Our Operations
Our Operations
At WMPG we have been working with our local communities for over 30 years. We care passionately about our reputation and services and believe that the family business style relationships that we have with our customers and farmers is the key to our success.
By remaining family owned and by adhering to our traditional values, we ensure that involvement with the WMPG is more than “just a job”.
The Best of Both Worlds
Our meat is produced from the soils of Western Australia in the bountiful growing conditions of the Margaret River Region. It is a short journey from there to our processing operations, located in the hub of Perth’s transport and infrastructure centre. With this combination, we are able to provide the best quality products with maximum shelf life.
Our production plant is situated in our cold store in Osborne Park, which is a substantial on site refrigerated storage complex. These facilities are licensed for North America and all major meat importing countries and enable the company to process up to 400 cattle per day.
The Department of Agriculture is fully involved on a day to day basis and all our premises enjoy export status. These initiatives are underpinned by a progressive HACCP program and AUS-MEAT certification to the standard of ‘A’ +. The prestigious British Retail consortium global food standards accreditation enables us to supply the major retail chains. In addition to these we are licensed by Meat Standards Australia. (MSA)
The company owned abattoir in the south west of Western Australia, a few kilometres north of Margaret River, is sited deep in the states premium cattle growing area. Up to the minute abattoir equipment makes it a stand out facility.
Stock processed in our South West facility are transported via modern refrigerated vehicles. All loads are sealed by the appropriate authorities for the trip and transported to Osborne Park overnight for processing next morning.
WMPG employs its own buyers to source only the best quality livestock. Our buyers’ research and travel to recommended, and agent sponsored sale yards around the state. Store cattle are background checked prior to purchase and are then placed into a carefully monitored feeding regime to ensure they reach required market weights.
We have worked hard over the years to develop a continuity of supply with trusted and reliable breeders, growers and lot feeders.
